Group Counseling / Psychotherapy Groups

Benefits of Group Therapy

Groups Provide Support. Hearing from others with similar issues can help you realize that are not alone in having challenges – whether you are struggling with panic attacks, depression, or other mental health concerns. Many people experience a sense of relief.

Groups Provide a Sounding Board. Fellow group members can help you see things the way you present that you don’t. Hearing from others about how you come across can be very powerful and offer a wider range of perspectives on your situation.

Groups Can Propel You Forward. Hearing how other group members successfully overcame their fear of flying or how they confronted a family member over drug abuse can be very encouraging. Unity: You’re not alone! You are not as different or alone as you may think.

Groups Promote Social Skills. Groups not only help to ease that sense of isolation, but also provide the opportunity to practice re-engaging with people. By participating in a group, you can see that you can get along with others.

Groups Teach You About Yourself. Every person in the group holds up a mirror, and you get to see yourself through their eyes. You can learn how to uncover blind spots that may be blocking your ability to overcome your issues.

Group Therapy Can Be Revealing. Many people learn more about themselves in group therapy because so many other topics may get brought up with all the varying perspectives in the room.

Group Therapy Costs Less Than Individual Counseling. Groups are (generally) significantly cheaper than individual therapy and can be incredibly powerful.

Anger Education and Management

Everyone gets angry once in a while. However, chronic anger can cost health, friendships, romantic relationships, and happiness. The goal of this group is to gain tools to examine our own triggers and perceptions of situations, and learn effective ways to express anger. We will embark on a process of learning to appropriately deal with normal angry feelings that we all experience and to regulate our emotions in a way to become a more effective person.
