Dr. Amiel provides psychiatric services to both adolescents (16+) and adults. In a
comfortable and supportive atmosphere, we offer a highly personalized approach tailored
to clients' individual needs to help attain the personal growth they’re striving for. Dr. Amiel
and his psychiatric team offer medication management services alone or in collaboration with
the agency's psychotherapy services.

Dr. Armbrust is a clinical psychologist specializing in psychoeducational testing and psychotherapy.  She provides a full range of psychological services for pre-school children up to adults, including: play therapy, parent training, school consultations, family therapy, and psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults.

Dr. Armbrust has spent her professional life working with children and families to overcome various obstacles to their personal or academic accomplishments. She has worked extensively with children and adolescents who are experiencing difficult life situations or struggling with emotional, behavioral and/or academic problems.

Dr. Armbrust received both her Masters and Doctorate in Psychology from New York University, and her undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. She has worked with children, adolescents and families in various hospital, school and outpatient clinic settings.

Erika is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).  She is trained to work with individuals, couples, and families.  She is comfortable with any clients of any age.  She has provided therapy in many settings, including private practice, school, and community mental health outpatient centers.  She has worked with individuals who are struggling with a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, separation, academics, and behavior modification techniques.  Erika is offering individual and family counseling.
 
Erika received both her Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and her Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Services from The Florida State University.  Erika has been practicing therapy since 2000.

Amie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Florida. She is also a Florida Qualified Supervisor, and she serves as the director of continuing services for Seminars Services, Jax.

As a professional Social Worker since 2002, Amie practiced in various settings both private and not for profit. Amie earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) from Auburn University and a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University.

Amie currently provides psychotherapy services designed to address needs that complicate daily coping. Services are provided using empowerment and cognitive theories. Service focus is directed to individuals, groups, women’s issues, adolescents(12 and up), and adults.

Porsha Coates, Staff CounselorPorsha Coates, MS, Staff Counselor

Child, adolescent, and Adult Counseling and Psychotherapy

Porsha is a staff counselor at our Southside location in Jacksonville. She received her Masters of Science degree from the University of Hawaii in Rehabilitation Counseling, as well as a baccalaureate degree in Psychology from the University of North Florida. Porsha is currently working towards her Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) and Hypnotherapy; she is also accruing post-master's hours as a registered mental health counselor intern.

Porsha’s clinical interests include: depression, anxiety, career-counseling, disability, minority stress, holistic healing, meditation, and hypnosis. In addition to her clinical work at Florida Counseling and Evaluation Services, she currently serves on Active Duty in the Florida Air National Guard as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer. She has a vast knowledge of the military, and military-centric issues.

Kay Cooper-Thomas, LMHC, Qualified Supervisor

Kay Cooper-Thomas is a Florida-Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation with a Therapeutic emphasis from the University of Florida and her Masters of Arts degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Florida.

Kay’s background includes working with children and adolescents, as well as providing counseling services to adults with depression, anxiety, trauma, and behavioral issues for over 25 years. She provides individual, group, and family counseling.

Kay is dedicated to providing nonjudgmental and compassionate care that encourages growth. Her focus is on helping others utilize their own individual personal knowledge and strengths and milestone to promote healing. She focuses on obtaining positive results by helping individuals manage life stressors and focusing on short and long term goals.

Dr. Andrew Gauler, LMHC, CRC, CVE, ACS, Qualified Supervisor

Post-doctoral Fellow, Adolescent and Adult Psychology

Dr. Gauler is a Florida-licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) working with adolescents (ages 16 +) and adults with a variety of presenting problems. He offers life-coaching, short-term counseling, psychotherapy, and educational and other behavioral health assessments, including disability and pre-surgical psychosocial evaluations for bariatric, pain (spinal cord stimulator), and transplant patients. Dr. Gauler also provides critical incident response (i.e., CISM/CIR) and consultation services.

His theoretical orientation to counseling and clinical services is rooted in the philosophy of a humanistic-existential approach to human functioning. Employing a non-sexist approach, he uses the tenets of individual responsibility to choice and decision-making and applies them within a cognitive-behavioral (CBT) perspective to counseling and clinical work. He considers himself a generalist with specialty training in cognitive rehabilitation, vocational/career counseling, as well as psychoeducational testing and other evaluations.

Dr. Gauler has received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in psychology with a minor in Spanish, a Master of Science (MS) degree in rehabilitation counseling with a focus on psychiatric disabilities from the University of North Florida, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Arts (MA) degrees in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, California.

In addition to practicing as a mental health therapist, Dr. Gauler holds national credentials as certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC) and certified vocational evaluation specialist (CVE); he also is an approved clinical supervisor (ACS). He has over 15 years of experience in the field of clinical and counseling psychology working with diverse populations, including gender and sexual minorities (i.e., LGBTQ) and individuals with congenital and acquired disabilities.

Anton Georgiev, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Anton is a Florida-licensed culturally diverse board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who focuses on the holistic approach of treatment. Anton’s goal is to treat the whole person, giving each individual a tailored and personalized care specific to their culture, lifestyle, belief system, and capacity. He is a firm believer in the philosophy of “Sound Mind - Sound Body,” and so his care explores the connection between the psychiatric and medical aspects.

Anton began his psychiatric career in 2013 working for River Point Behavioral Health and Memorial Hospital, both major inpatient psychiatric facilities in Jacksonville, Florida. Since 2019, Anton has been gaining experience as an outpatient psychiatric resident, while retaining his in-patient nurse duties. His experience includes working in an emergency stabilization psychiatric unit, addiction unit, as well as general, adolescence, and geriatric psychiatry.

In addition to in- and outpatient care, Anton has gained extensive experience as a group therapy leader while working at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. He is a strong supporter of incorporating psychotherapy components into treatment, specifically for its potential to help unlock previously unused or forgotten abilities to self-manage and control feelings, reactions, emotions, and fears.  

Anton accepts the benefits of alternative and complimentary treatments in the ongoing effort to be a well-balanced person. He strives to become aware of individuals’ personal choice of treatment, cultural and spiritual believes, which have the potential to greatly affect the treatment and the therapeutic relationship between provider and patient. In addition, Anton invests the time to explain, educate, and provide his patients with all of the needed information to make the best possible choice. He understands that a treatment is never static; it is an ongoing and highly dynamic process, involving honest communication and effort from both, provider and patient.

Doug Gorospe, LCSW

General and Substance Abuse Counseling and Psychotherapy

Doug Gorospe is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the State of Florida who has over 25 years of experience both in the field of behavioral health and substance abuse. He has worked as a counselor in the both inpatient and outpatient facilities since 1993. He has received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and his Masters in Social Work from Florida State University. Doug specializes in working with adolescents, adults, and couples struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, anger management, physical /sexual abuse, dual diagnosis, substance abuse issues, life transitions, grief issues, work problems and stress management.

Doug believes in providing a supportive, nonjudgmental environment to guide the client’s healing process.  He utilizes a variety of approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior (REBT), grief therapy, Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness techniques and traditional psychodynamic therapy.

Dr. Lisa Hubbard, LMHC, Qualified Supervisor

Dr. Lisa Hubbard is a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who is providing counseling, psychotherapy, and evaluation services to individuals and families. She has earned masters and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology, holds a national certification in counseling, and is a Florida-approved clinical supervisor (MH).

Dr. Hubbard has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health, and her patients benefit from a wealth of knowledge and experience she has acquired in the field of clinical psychology.

Dr. Hubbard understands how hard it is to speak about one’s own life to a stranger, and she believes that her patients deserve to be heard and listened to without judgment. She strives to create a warm, accepting atmosphere to help individuals heal from their traumas and past experiences, find skills to cope with life, and focus on what matters most to them.   

Dr. Hubbard is accepting new patients of all ages, currently only via telehealth.


 

Shirley King, PhD, MA, LMHC, Staff Counselor

Shirley, a Florida-licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), is a staff counselor who received her Master's of Arts in Counseling from Webster University. Shirley’s life experience and calm demeanor allow her clients to be at ease as they share their challenges and concerns. She uses her sense of humor and active listening to ensure she and her clients are on the same page. She listens to her clients issues without judgment or bias.

Shirley believes in a holistic approach to counseling and her clinical interests include: trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and women’s issues.

Shirley also holds a doctoral degree in Christian psychology from Jacksonville Theological Seminary, which allows her to incorporate aspects of faith and spirituality into her counseling sessions upon request.

Susan Lama, MSW, Staff Counselor

Susan is dedicated to actively listening and supporting her clients with kindness, engagement, and empathy. Susan’s approach is client-centered. Her patience and calm demeanor help her clients work at their pace to recognize, identify, explore, and process their feelings. Having lived abroad for many years, she brings an understanding and awareness of global and cultural assimilation and differences.

Susan holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California with a concentration in adult mental health and wellness and is currently accruing hours towards her Florida license as a registered clinical social worker intern. She has gained experience in a wide variety of clinical settings. Susan’s areas of interests include: depressive and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, substance abuse, self-esteem and trauma recovery. Susan works with adolescents and adults, providing individual and couples therapy with a focus on trauma recovery.

Melissa Meyer, MS, CRC, Staff Counselor

Melissa is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) who earned her Masters of Science degree from the University of Hawaii in Rehabilitation Counseling with a concentration in psychiatric disabilities. Her counseling approach is rooted in Rational Emotional Behavior Therapy (REBT), assisting patients to overcome negative thought processes which often result in emotional distress. She believes in working with patients to find solutions that work for them in a straight-forward, nonjudgmental atmosphere.

Melissa works with adolescents (ages 12+) and adults. Her areas of clinical interest include: anxiety, depression, trauma, career-counseling, grief, substance-abuse, as well as disability, LGBTQ+ and women’s issues.

Dr. Meyer is a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and holds national certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and board certification as a National Certified Counselor. In addition to his doctorate in psychology, Dr. Meyer has previously earned a post-graduate degree in psychology, a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling with an emphasis in psychiatric disabilities from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, as well as a baccalaureate degree (BHA) in healthcare administration from the University of North Florida.

Dr. Meyer is a certified mindfulness practitioner.

Dr. Meyer's clinical interests include: substance abuse, dual-diagnoses, depression, anxiety, grief, career counseling, disability, and minority stress to include LGBTQ issues. In addition to his clinical work at Florida Counseling and Evaluation Services, he recently has retired from the United States Air Force as a senior non-commissioned officer. Susan Murphy, LCSW
Grief Specialist

Sue is originally from Rochester, New York.  She received two bachelors degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo in psychology and linguistics.  She then attended the University of Maryland, where she received a Master’s Degree in Social Work. 

Sue has been a social worker for nearly 35 years, practicing in Florida for the last 25 years. She has worked extensively in medical settings, including hospitals and clinics, and her practice has been largely focused upon assisting families with young children as well as expectant parents. She is very familiar with and she tries to educate her clients on positive parenting techniques. Sue diligently works with those that she serves to promote their emotional well-being, recognizing the strong connection between positive physical and mental health. She has also worked extensively with patients who are chronically and terminally ill.  She assists these patients and their families with coping with difficult life transitions, and supporting individuals and families who are encountering issues of loss and grief.

Fred Sacklow, LCSW, Qualified Supervisor

Adolescent and Adult Counseling and Psychotherapy

Fred is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). He moved to Jacksonville in 2016. While living in New York, he worked for many years in the New York City Department of Education, as well as providing psychotherapy at a mental health clinic, and in his private practice. He enjoys working with individuals, couples, families, and groups using various approaches to help his clients improve their mental health and living circumstances. He aims to provide a comfortable and trusting environment, where the individual feels supported, respected, and understood. He does this through having a nonjudgmental attitude, calm demeanor, sense of humor, and using active listening. He helps the client formulate a treatment plan that targets the specific problem areas that they want to work on to engage growth and healing.

Fred received his MSW degree from Adelphi University School of Social Work. He has been practicing since 1980.
